A Deep Fried Weekend In The Swamp...

I hope everyone had an amazing weekend! I have two of my lady cousins in town and we had quite the evening Friday night! We caught up, told embarrassing stories, and drank A LOT! Not only did I return from the bar with no pictures, I also returned with no wallet! I've been checking my bank accounts and all of my money is still there, so I'm thinking it's in good hands! If someone were to use any of my cards, they would have done it quickly since I would have cancelled them ASAP! The saddest part is that I'm most worried about my Target gift cards that were in there. You can replace debit cards, but there are no second chances with Target gift cards! Anyways, I reported it missing, so we'll see how long it takes for this thing to turn up...

Saturday, The Boyfriend, a few friends, and I journeyed to the middle of the swamp to eat seafood. Literally, in the middle of nowhere, is a town called Everglades City and every year they host a seafood festival. We heard it was pretty fun and since we had never been out there, we thought we'd give it a try...

They had just about every kind of fried fish or swamp animal imaginable! We chose a plate full of coconut shrimp, grouper, frog legs, conch fritters, calamari, and I can't remember what else! I wanted to go back and get a crab cake the size of a hockey puck, but I couldn't fit another thing in my stomach!

The rest of the afternoon was devoted to people watching and listening to live country music! I could seriously watch people fall off a mechanical bull all day...

The town itself is actually nicer than I thought it would be. It's rustic, but the docks with all of the boats in the canals are so pretty and some of the houses on stilts were gorgeous. It looked like maybe a few people had vacation houses there to escape from Miami...

We picnicked by this old bank building that I thought looked historic, so I looked it up when I got home (no Googling in the swamp!). It turns out that someone turned the building into a bed and breakfast with a spa, so I definitely want to go back and check that out! Maybe I'll even schedule an airboat ride while I'm at it...

Sunday, I hand washed my delicates and cleaned up my house. It doesn't sound exciting and it wasn't, but at least I feel accomplished! Not to mention, it's free and I'm walletless! I had dinner with my grandparents last night (more seafood!), came home, and fell right to sleep...

  1. I need some seafood, soon. Looks like a fun weekend, minus the wallet snafu!
