This Sabrina is the remake of the 1954 movie starring Audrey Hepburn, and while that version is a classic, I prefer the 1995 cast and all of the ridiculously beautiful scenery!
Sabrina (Julia Ormond) is the daughter of a chauffeur, who works at the Larrabee Estate. Sabrina has been in love with one of the Larrabee sons, David (Greg Kinnear), for a long time, but he never notices her. She goes to Paris for a fashion internship at Vogue and returns a new woman, which both David and his brother Linus (Harrison Ford) take note of-to say the least...
I've lost track of how many times I've seen Captain Ron. It's hilarious! Martin Short plays a dad who inherits a boat in the Caribbean and takes his family on a sailing adventure with the help of Captain Ron, played by Kurt Russell. Let's just say that things don't go quite as planned and Captain Ron takes them on a strange and unforgettable adventure...
Troop Beverly Hills is technically '89, but it's close enough! I was a girl scout for one year in the 2nd grade and hated it, but that's probably because my troop didn't have camp outs at the Beverly Hills Hotel and I never received a jewelry appraisal patch for my sash...
Phyllis (Shelley Long) becomes the leader of her daughter's troop, which is in danger of shutting down due to lack of interest. She doesn't know a lot about roughing it, but manages to teach her girls valuable life lessons, all while going through a rough divorce. I know I missed my calling as a Wilderness Girl, but I can at least watch this film and dream of what might have been...
Alright, we all know I have a love for/obsession with Dolly, but
Straight Talk is one of those feel good, cheesy movies with a good message that epitomizes all things 90s! Dolly plays Shirlee, a woman whose down on her luck finding a job after leaving her boyfriend and moving to Chicago. After a misunderstanding at a radio station, where she's supposed to be a receptionist, she becomes one of Chicago's most popular radio hosts! She dishes out advice as Dr. Shirlee, but she's not a real doctor, and as her popularity grows, people begin to wonder who she really is...
Fried Green Tomatoes is such an emotional movie-I always end up laughing and crying! The story starts out when a woman named Evelyn (Kathy Bates) goes to a nursing home to visit her aunt and meets a woman named Ninny, who starts telling her stories from the 1920s about a girl from Alabama named Idgie. Evelyn and Ninny become friends and Evelyn returns every week to hear more of Idgie's story...
I love how the movie goes back and forth from the 1920s to present day. I think it would be so fun to visit Juliette, GA, where the movie was filmed, and eat at the Whistle Stop Cafe!
Ever After: A Cinderella Story puts a modern day, realistic twist on the classic Cinderella tale. Drew Barrymore plays Danielle, a 16th century French girl who is made a servant in her own home after her father dies of a heart attack. Some parts of the movie are a lot like the Cinderella story we know from Disney (A wicked stepmother, stepsisters, and a prince), but there are also many differences. For instance, instead of a fairy godmother, she has Leonardo Da Vinci's help in making her dreams come true. Also, Danielle doesn't act like a damsel in distress, and often takes matters into her own hands, which I love!
Happy Viewing :)

I love the old version of Sabrina, I have not yet seen the one from 1995. I will have to see if I can find it on Netflix. :)

ReplyDeleteEvery After & Sabrina are my favs! I agree with you. The 1995 is better :P Happy Friday!
ReplyDeleteahh, the 1995 version of Sabrina is one of my very favorites!
ReplyDeleteEver After and Troop Beverly Hills are two of my FAVORITE movies of ALL TIME. I watched Fried Green Tomatoes a long time ago, but think I was too young to really get it. You have brought me back! I want to have a movie marathon now with all of them.
ReplyDelete90's Drew Barrymore was perfect. Although I probably loved her a little bit more in ET...!
ReplyDeleteOkay, that's it. We like way too many of the same movies. Have we met in a past life?!
ReplyDeleteCaptain Ron! Hilarious. And don't even get me started on Troop Beverly Hills. I think that was one we for sure rented EVERY weekend because our parents wouldn't just buy it for us.
And of course, I love Ever After. The scenery is stunning and the music is fantastic!
